During the penultimate games session of this term the Year 3 and 4 boys took part in their house football tournament. It was a great chance for the boys to put themselves to the test after a fantastic term of football.
Throughout the second half of the term the senior boys have been taking part in weekly house football matches. In a typical year the house football would take place on a Saturday and the boys would take part in regular competitive games against other schools, but for obvious reasons this could not happen this year. The boys enjoyed weekly competition with each other in the form of house football. Each house played each other each week and were awarded points for their results, these results were totalled up and the House champions for Year 5-8 2020 were crowned.
All boys had the opportunity to take part at a level that suited them and there were some very close games. In between games the boys also had the opportunity to give and receive feedback within their house group, with the aim to improve their performances for the next match. Well done to all of the boys who took part.
Once all of the scores were in the results were as follows;
Years 3&4 | Years 5&6 | Years 7&8 | |
---|---|---|---|
Ist | Geraint (Green) | Geraint (Green) | Bedivere (Red) |
2nd | Gareth (Blue) | Bedivere (Red) | Geraint (Green) |
3rd | Bedivere (Red) | Gareth (Blue) | Gareth (Blue) |
These results are then added together and the winning house from across the school was;
1st– Geraint
2nd- Bedivere
3rd- Gareth

During the senior school’s recent shutdown, many of the boys took time to reflect on our theme of kindness. One of our lovely Year 5 pupils researched how he could spread the message of kindness throughout the school, the community and the world.
He then sent an email to Mr Gill about his findings and wanted to share this with the boys at Keble. The theme of his presentation, to the younger boys, was thinking about how our acts of kindness can bring colour to people’s world. He presented extremely well and conveyed such a positive message to the younger boys. What a fantastic message from a fantastic young man.

Mr Noone and the Eco Club have been looking at Palm oil and its uses. It is unrealistic to expect people to stop using palm oil immediately so they have been thinking about how we might make its use more sustainable. In the assembly this morning a group of Y5 boys presented their slides outlining what they have learnt. It was all their own work and an excellent opportunity to practise their public speaking skills. We were all educated on such an important issue. Well done boys.

On Monday evening the KPSA organised a fantastic football event for the boys from Year 3-8. On a bitterly cold evening, the boys played with passion, determination, and a huge sparkle of festive cheer. The games were of a high standard, with each boy taking a full part in each game. The sight of the boys playing in their Christmas hats made it look like an elven FA cup, all that was missing was a sprinkling of snow. The Year 5 and 6 boys took part in an elf dash using the new playground markings and we even had an elf band playing to ward off the icy temperatures.
It was a great deal of fun to mark the end of a challenging term. Well done to all of the boys who took part and thank you to Mrs Militiadous and the KPSA for organising and Mr Gill, Mr Jordan, Mr Turner and to Ruzgar our Y8 football captain for refereeing.
Welcome back to our lovely Year 3 and 4 boys, who return after a two week period, and of course to all their teachers who have worked so hard during the past few weeks to deliver the boys remote learning so successfully – A huge thank you to them for all their hard work.
All the boys did a great job continuing their learning remotely but they enjoyed returning to school to see their friends again and not just via a screen. The boys have now had a chance to use the new outdoor play space at school – It is a fantastic place for the boys to socialise, develop skills, compete and have fun. The boys really do enjoy the new activities that the KPSA have worked so hard to facilitate. A huge thank you goes to our wonderful KPSA who have organised the new playground.
After two weeks away from school it was great to see the boys back at the Winchmore Hill Sports Club. With two games sessions remaining of the term, focus turned to the House Football competition. Usually the tournament takes place in October on a Saturday, involving the whole school community, but due to the current situation the competition has taken place behind closed doors this year. This week was the turn of the Year 3 and 4 boys. On a very wet and cold afternoon, the boys showed great team spirit and gave their all in some exciting, end to end, fun games. Well done to all of the boys who took part. The boys’ scores will be added to the scores from years 5-8 with the House football champions being crowned during the final assemblies of the term.
Next week, our attention turns to the house cross country. A chance for the boys to show their ability and determination in competition with each other over the sustained running course.
Discord continues to grow in popularity and if your son enjoys gaming he may be aware of it and be possibly using it. If so please read the information contained in this blog and the attached links to make sure you are fully aware of what it is and how it affects your child.
Did you know it is age-restricted? Pupils should be 13 +

Please find a form for Senior parents to feedback on Google Classroom below the video. This will help us develop our responses and inform the school on how the pupils are coping with the classroom. A seperate form will be posted for Junior parents next week.
Also a short video about viewing homework on Google Classroom for Senior school parents. I hope this helps to improve your experience.
Thank you
This week, as part of their PE lessons, the reception boys have been using their animal movements to understand how their bodies move, developing their strength, speed, balance, and agility in the process. They have also been developing their communication skills by giving and receiving instructions in a positive, assertive, and fun way. Taking leadership roles and giving feedback to their peers has also been an important part of their learning.
As parents, you know new games are coming out all the time. It is important to try and stay informed about the different advice, internet trends and games your child is being exposed to.

What an amazing amount the Keble community has raised for the two charities chosen this term! Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity.
The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust fundraiser ‘Keble’s Road to Amarillo’ raised just short of £2000. We have £1,901 and the justgiving link is open until November 20th if you haven’t donated and would still like to. I think you’ll agree that it’s an amazing amount of money and I know the charity is going to be thrilled with the donation.
Odd Sock Day raised in excess of £220. Money is still being donated so we won’t have a firm figure for a week or so. The charity chosen is The Spring: Charity Water and was chosen by the boys, through the student council.
Giving to others, kindness and charity was the focus of this term and with your help we have well and truly embraced this.
Here’s to 2021 and I’m already thinking about the next fun ,whole school fundraiser we can do… hopefully bubbleless! Watch this space! Mrs Pontin
