Children’s Mental Health Week at Keble

This week at school we have been taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week, with Thursday being Time to Talk day, showing how talking to someone about our worries and anxieties will help us to cope with our feelings.

The theme this year is Express Yourself.  We’ve been finding ways to share feelings, thoughts and ideas, through creativity.  Some of the ideas we have discussed have been art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, and baking.  In fact just doing activities that make you feel good.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of Place2Be, has sent a message of support encouraging children and parents to find ways to share their thoughts and feelings, particularly during such a challenging time.

Just one example happening around the school this week

We used our PSHE lesson this week to express ourselves through the medium of drawing and dance.  Connecting as a class and listening to each other carefully we managed to produce pictures from someone else’s description.  They came up with some great monster creations! Some via iPads, some freehand on paper.

We tried learning a short choreographed Diversity dance routine. Who knew we had such movers in the school So lovely to see them busting out dance moves with confidence and such enthusiasm.

The boys had lots of ideas to share, too many to fit into one lesson, some shared singing and others gymnastic prowess!
